for Intercultural German Studies Bayreuth

Dialogue and cultural exchange – the Summer University for Intercultural German Studies Bayreuth is a platform for international encounter. Young people from all over the world gain insight into German culture, study the language and focus on current issues. Their different cultural experiences create a special intercultural atmosphere.

The Summer University for Intercultural German Studies Bayreuth welcomes each year more than 300 students from over 40 different countries in August and September. Organized by the Institute for International Communication and Cultural Outreach (IIK Bayreuth) in cooperation with the University of Bayreuth, the summer university offers more than mere language courses. The acquisition of language is embedded in a broad intercultural concept that offers various approaches to German culture and language. In the afternoon the students can choose one of the intensive courses such as “European Studies”, “Business Communication”, “Film and Media Culture”, “Law and Legal Culture”, “Music Culture” and “Intercultural Communication and Training”.

Throughout the year we offer special language courses that prepare for studying at the University of Bayreuth.
